The Department of English at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) offers a four-year BA (Hons) program in English at the undergraduate level. This program aims to equip students with strong English language skills that can be applied in both academic and practical contexts. The program provides a well-rounded education through a balanced combination of literature studies and applied linguistics, fostering different perspectives on literature, literary history, language, and culture.
However, the English major is not only focused on education but also prepares students for a lifetime of engagement in professions that require educated employees. English courses at WUB emphasize extensive writing skills and critical thinking, encouraging students to express their ideas in clear, well-structured arguments. To graduate with a BA in English from WUB, students must complete at least 142 credits over 12 semesters, including a thesis of 6 credits or two additional courses after completing 121 credits.
