About Club

The Department of English believes in the value of extra-curricular engagement to enrich students' academic experience and foster their personal development. In line with this philosophy, it has established the "World English Club" as a multifaceted platform aimed at enhancing students' understanding of literature, language, and culture while nurturing their interpersonal communication skills and artistic talents. The club comprises various wings, each dedicated to specific activities:

Literary & Language Wing: This wing provides a platform for students to explore a diverse range of literary ideas and theories through seminars, workshops, and open discussions. It aims to improve critical thinking abilities and expand language diversity and proficiency.

Cultural & Creative Wing: The Cultural wing within the World English Club organizes a plethora of cultural activities, including drama performances, music events, and recitation sessions. These endeavors aim to cultivate creativity and aesthetic appreciation among students.

Debate & Communication Wing: The Debate wing focuses on enhancing students' rationality and critical thinking skills while also honing their language abilities. It offers ample opportunities for practicing debating and hosts intra-departmental and interdepartmental competitions.

Sports & Recreation Wing: The Sports wing endeavors to promote physical well-being and teamwork through various indoor and outdoor recreational activities. It organizes different sports events to encourage students' participation and cooperation.

Each club operates under a well-organized committee, and students interested in joining any of the clubs are encouraged to reach out to the department for membership details.

Mission

To provide students with opportunities to develop essential organizational, communication, and lifelong learning skills through the planning and execution of diverse co-curricular and extracurricular activities. We aim to create a supportive community where students can collaborate, innovate, and grow as leaders, empowering them to create meaningful and inclusive events that enrich their university experience and contribute to personal and professional growth.

Objectives

  • To organize debate competitions on different important topics related to English Language and Literature.

  • To plan intra-departmental competitions, which will require students to apply their critical thinking ability.

  • To arrange different cultural activities in the department and in the university programs.

  • To build a platform to create a strong network with employer through our alumni.

  • To organize different social welfare progamms like helping flood affected people and raising fund to help poor people.

  • To participate in the social activities.

  • To organize indoor and outdoor sports.

Goals

  • Literary Club provides a platform to expose students to a world of literary ideas.
  • This club conducts different activities like seminar, workshop, open discussion on different literary theories and ideas, presentation etc.
  • To improve learners' critical thinking abilities as well as to expand their language diversity and ability.

Policies

  • Only the students of the department of English, World University of Bangladesh are allowed to be members of the club.
  • A membership application form must be filled up by the students to have the membership of WUEC.
  • Alumni are the life time members of WUEC.
