About Club
The Department of English believes that extra-curricular activities including club activities, social works, and the like will inspire and motivate the students to realize its vision and mission and accordingly facilitate the running of BA (Hons) and MA in English programs successfully. In this regard, Department of English has formed the English Department Club to enrich the students’ knowledge in literature, language and culture in order to flourish their interpersonal communication skills and foster their creative and artistic talents.
Literary Club provides a platform to expose students to a world of literary ideas. This club conducts different activities like seminar, workshop, open discussion on different literary theories and ideas, presentation etc. to improve learners' critical thinking abilities as well as to expand their language diversity and ability.
Language Club is established with a view to developing students’ communication and presentation skills as well as to expanding their language diversity and ability to cope with the demand of the modern and global world.
Cultural Club conducts various cultural activities to develop learners' creativity and aesthetic sense. The club is divided into different sections like drama club, music and recitation club etc.
The aim of Debate Club is to increase students' rationality, critical thinking ability as well as to develop learners’ language ability. This club provides ample opportunities to practice debating and also arranges intra-departmental and inter-departmental debate competitions.
The aim of Sports Club is to plan up different recreational activities specifically sports. The club arranges different indoor and outdoor games to develop students' team spirits and cooperation abilities.
Each Club is run by a well organized committee. Students will have to contact the department for membership.

FRESHERS’ RECEPTION & FAREWELL PROGRAM

Vision
The vision of the English Department Club is to create responsible and productive individuals equipped with befitting knowledge and required skills for economic emancipation and social well-being.
Mission
In harmony with the mission of the Department, the Club aims at students to flourish academically, personally, socially and aesthetically through critical thinking, artistic talents, and freedom of thought and expression with the help of multiple cultural, creative and social activities.
Objectives
- To organize debate competitions on different important topics related to English Language and Literature.

To plan intra-departmental competitions, which will require students to apply their critical thinking ability.

To arrange different cultural activities in the department and in the university programs.

To build a platform to create a strong network with employer through our alumni.

To organize different social welfare progamms like helping flood affected people and raising fund to help poor people.

Goals

Policies
- Only the students of the department of English, World University of Bangladesh are allowed to be members of the club.
- A membership application form must be filled up by the students to have the membership of WUEC.
- Alumni are the life time members of WUEC.
